1st Comes Love is an online stationary shop that specializes in personalized stationary. They have a wide range of products, focusing mostly on event invitations, but also personalized note cards. According to their about us page, they “specialize in announcing life’s moments; your moments. We focus on capturing emotions and translating them into designs that find the right mix of ideas, ink and paper.”

They sent some samples of their personalized invitations as well as a set of note cards. I was very impressed by the quality of the printing and the paper that was used. All the designs and photos were crisp and clear, which is exactly how you would want your personalized product to be. The designs are also very creative and varied, which would make it pretty easy to find something to fit your needs. My favorite note card is the Lovebirds, although I loved the floral designs as well.

If you are looking for an invitation to make an impact for your next event, you should take a look through the 1st Comes Love gallery. I especially love the daisy design and the lion! They have a lovely range of holiday designs as well!

PSP’s For Kids

I wanted to help spread the word about an awesome contest going on at 5 Minutes for Mom! This is a contest that is going to help bring a little joy and fun into the lives of 10 kids.

Anyone who has spent time in a hospital knows that it can be very boring, and let’s face it, a PSP is a lot of fun and would sure make the time pass a lot quicker for someone who is stuck in the hospital. Not only do they play games, but you can use it as a movie player and for music.

If you want to read more about the project, or if you know of a deserving kid to nominate, be sure to stop by and read the Blogs Can Change Lives post.

Five lucky winners will get a copy of the book, Lessons in Stalking!

If You Own A Cat You Must Own This Book

“The Erma Bombeck of cat writers!”

Cotton mice found doing the dead man’s float in the water dish…5 AM wake-up calls…a “no-closed doors” policy…the cat declares a holy war when put on a diet.

Lessons In Stalking homes in on the wildly different responses the author and her long-suffering spouse have to a life shared with cats. In no other cat book will you find such riveting accounts as:

  • The Great Cat Butt Wiping Adventure
  • Jingle Ball Horrors
  • The Creature Under the Fridge
  • Yoga Cat
  • The Big Brown Mouse & Other Toys Our Cat Loathes

Praise for Lessons in Stalking

“Dena Harris has written a cat book even a dog would love.”
—Tim Bete, director of the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop and author of In the Beginning… There Were No Diapers

“Never has watching someone else own a cat been this much fun.”
—Lisa Allmendinger, Editor, I Love Cats!

“Dena Harris magically captures the humor of sharing our lives with cats in a master storyteller’s style. You catch yourself laughing out loud as you read her words filled with whimsy and wit. She is simply meow-val-lous!
—Arden Moore, Catnip Editor and author of The Kitten Owner’s Manual

DYMO Personal Label Maker Review

Thursday
Oct 16,2008

The chance to review the DYMO Letra Tag Personal Labelmaker could not have come at a better time! Fall is one of my favorite times to clear the clutter and organize the rest (and admittedly I am a bit of an organizing freak). So, what could be better than having a label maker to label all my bins? And believe me, I probably even went a little overboard labeling everything in sight (I even put a label on one of our pet’s cages just for fun). I also made labels for my inspiration binders!

The DYMO label maker is really easy to use, with a nice big screen where you can choose your font, and style. The large screen also makes it really easy to see what you have typed before you print, which helps avoid printing mistakes and wast. It’s battery powered (4 “AA”) which makes it ideal for any room in your house, when I was using it in our basement I wouldn’t have been able to plug it in, but with the batteries I was able to use it on all my bins with no problem!

Also, there is something really cool that DYMO offers that I didn’t know about before this review. Magnetic labels! That’s right, you can make your own magnets! They also offer quiet a range of options for labels, including metallic, plastic, clear, iron on, and paper.

Other neat features:

  • English, Spanish, and French capable menu.
  • 5 font sizes, 7 print styles, 8 box styles, 2 line printing, and 195 symbols.
  • The Letra Tag Plus comes with a magnetic holder so you can put it right on your fridge!
  • Easy to find both the label maker, and refills, at Wal-Mart, Target, Staples, Office Max, and Office Depot, and of course, at the DYMO website.

I really can’t wait to use it again as I organize my pantry, and especially at Christmas, it will be perfect for labeling all our decorations so we know exactly where they should go when the holiday is over. So many amazing uses! It makes me wonder how I ever lived with out one!
