SC Johnson Pledge

scjpledge

Pledge has been the dusting product of choice from as far back as I can remember! We got a chance to “test drive” a can of Pledge recently and fell back in love with the product. Adding the Pledge into our regular dusting routine (a Swiffer) really has made a difference both in the amount of dust that comes up and the time in between dustings.

From the site: “Pledge Natural Beauty is ideal for quickly cleaning your wood furniture and wood surfaces. Its Anti-Dust™ formula keeps surfaces looking less dusty, longer. It removes dust, dirt, smudges, and common allergens like pet dander found in dust from your wood furniture in a flash. Plus, it protects against water damage and stains. Dusting with Pledge leaves surfaces with no waxy buildup.”

Another thing that we really love about the product is that it helps trap allergens! Believe me, this is a big deal in our home because I suffer from allergies, and anything that can help reduce allergens is great in our book!

This post was written for Family Review Network as part of a program by SC Johnson, who also supplied the product for review.

Stonewall Kitchen Cookbook

I got super lucky and won a copy of this great cookbook. I haven’t had a chance to test out any recipes in our kitchen yet, but just looking through the book at the recipes and photos already has us drooling! It looks like it is chock full of healthy and tasty options!

If one of your new year’s resolutions was to eat better, this may just be a great cookbook to add to your personal collection. We think it looks pretty wish list worthy!

Dyson Pink Vacuum

At first we were convinced that the Dyson vacuum was going to be completely wish list worthy. It’s supposed to be the best vacuum ever (not losing suction), the one we got is pink (donation to Komen), and the price was right for us. Sadly, it’s not the best vacuum ever. Now, it’s great at picking things up, we have been beyond impressed at just how much dirt and pet hair the vacuum is able to get out of our carpet. We also really love the bagless feature, especially the way it empties from the bottom with just a touch of a button.

However, there are two flaws in the design. The first is pretty small, no headlight. Not really a big problem, but we didn’t realize that we actually used the headlight on our vacuum until we started using this vacuum and the headlight wasn’t there.

The second, the way the hose and hose attachments were designed, is a major flaw. The hose is actually part of the handle. This makes it extremely awkward to use because it is very stiff, at an awkward angle, and often makes the vacuum tip over. Also during regular vacuuming the small cover often opens, causing the vacuum to lose suction until it’s readjusted. We are sure that they designed it that way because it looks good, but they should have stuck with the way other vacuums address the hose.

Over all the Dyson is a great vacuum for getting the carpet clean, it really does seem to have more power and suction than other vacuums. However, the hose issue is a big one, a problem that if fixed, would make the vacuum completely wish list worthy.

WeekDate

WeekDate is a great organizing option for anyone wishing to simplify their calendar. It offers a section where you can write down your recurring monthly and weekly activities so you only have to write them in once. It’s smaller size also makes it great for toting with you wherever you need to go.
