Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Another great game for the Nintendo DS! Professor Layton and the Curious Village is full of fun brainteasers that will have you scratching your head! Some are simple, while others may take a bit longer to figure out. In fact, we were stuck on one tonight!
The game is essentially one big puzzle, with smaller puzzles throughout. Professor Layton and his assistant Luke, travel to the village of St. Mystere to solve the case of a baron’s last will (a hidden treasure). As you move through the village you will talk to the people who live there. It turns out that they are obsessed with puzzles, and they will challenge you to solve them before offering assistance on your quest. With 130 puzzles to solve, and other puzzles that are available weekly for download via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, it’s a game that will keep you challenged!
We have been playing it for about a week now! It is played as a one player game, with three slots that you can save information to. My husband and I play it together, which has been a good thing because he sure is smarter than I am on some of the puzzles! I would likely still be stuck in some spots. They do give you the chance to buy hints with “hint coins” that you can find hidden throughout the game though (we just hate using hints).
We have also enjoyed the artwork, funny things that the villagers say, and of course, the puzzles themselves. If you have a Nintendo DS, Professor Layton and the Curious Village should be on your wish list if you enjoy brainteasers! We think it’s a lot of fun!
